Tuesday 2/21 – The 8th Grade Formal planning committee will be meeting onTuesday 2/21 at 7pm at the Panera on Kirkwood Highway. Please join us as we begin the process of planning for the event which will take place on May 12, 2017.

Conrad HOSA News
Conrad’s Rare Disease team of Juniors Caitlyn Dill and Rickey Howell are preparing for their competition presentation at AI DuPont Hospital on Rare Disease Day, February 28th. They have researched Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MSUD), spoken with researchers and families of children with this disease and will present their information to a team of Biomedical Researchers and other health professionals from the hospital in the morning with an open showcase after. This day is open to the public so stop by between 11:30 and 1:30 to see all of the displays by HOSA teams from throughout the state. Caitlyn and Rickey are also fundraising for Nemours Rare Disease Research. The Community Awareness team of Ashlee Maney, Julie Munley, and Emily Hersch are selling “Conrad Cares” t-shirts to spread awareness about skin cancer. All proceeds will go to the Skin Cancer Foundation. Shirts are $15 and can be ordered through February 24th.
HOSA will hold a fundraiser at Chipotle on Wednesday, March 1st from 2-9pm. Show a flier (paper or electronic) or mention Conrad HOSA and the group will earn 50% of the sales. All funds support HOSA competition preparations. 56 students are now preparing for the State Leadership Conference in March and hoping to advance to the International Leadership Conference in Orlando this June. Thank you for supporting our students.
The Blue-Gold Club will be selling #ChangingLives bracelets for $2 at lunches 2/23-2/28. Students who purchase a bracelet can wear it to dress down on National Spread the Word to End the Word Day on Wednesday, March 1st. Proceeds support Special Olympics Delaware. All students are invited to sign the Pledge Banner pledging to show respect to EVERYONE.
Come out to the Blue Rocks fireworks game with the Blue-Gold Club and our Buddies on Friday, April 7th. Tickets are $10 and all orders are due by Friday, March 3rd.
Next PTO meeting will be Thursday, March 9th @ 7:00 pm in the Library. Our Staff presenter will be Ms. Kate Varga – Social Studies Teacher and Youth in Government Advisor.
Conrad’s High School Drama
This year, Conrad’s High School Drama Production will be the musical “Little Shop of Horrors.” Shows are on Friday, February 24th, Friday, March 3rd (B+ Night), andSaturday, March 4th. Come see our Freshman through Senior’s rendition of the hit 80’s cult classic in which a flower shop hopeless romantic, Seymour (played by Senior Jimmy Hudson), opposite his love interest, Audrey (portrayed by Sophomore Sarah Schoen, as he has to decide should he go down the road of unthinkable things to save the flower shop and save Audrey from her current boyfriend, a egotistical psychopath dentist, Orin (played by Senior Billy Knotts). Come see how a strange and interesting plant goes from being a tiny, cute little bud, into a terrifying monster that it truly is (Voice of the Plant by Senior Shaun Dukes). Tickets are $10 and are only purchased at the door. Concessions will be sold prior to the show, as well as during intermission and at the conclusion of the show. Our cast of about 40 students are ready to put on quite possibly the best show we’ve done here at Conrad. It is sure to have you laughing from beginning to end. It is definitely worth putting on your calendars, and if you come on March 3rd, a portion of your ticket cost will help support the B+ Foundation. School District College Fair
Red Clay Consolidated School District College Fair- By their junior year of high school, at the latest, students must start the college application process. Let us help by introducing you to counselors from regional colleges and universities! FREE and open to the public! You are invited to the 8th Annual Red Clay College Fair at John Dickinson High School on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The fair is intended to assist families in the process of applying for college and offers admissions counselors from regional colleges and universities.
